Direct Primary Care prioritizes the patient-physician relationship allowing for enhanced access and care that is focused on an individuals health care goals.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an alternative to traditional health insurance that involves patients paying a monthly fee or subscription for services. DPC practices don't bill insurance companies for services, but patients may still need health insurance to cover additional costs. Here are some ways to pay for DPC services in California:

• Membership fee: A DPC memberships usually cover basic care, office visits, and consultations. A DPC Membership is not insurance. Membership fees are often eligible expenses for flexible spending accounts (FSAs), but it's best to check with your plan.
• Insurance: You can use DPC with health insurance, but you may need to sign an agreement stating that your insurance won't be billed for services. For example, if you have Medicare, you may need to sign a waiver every two years that neither you nor your doctor will bill Medicare.
• Patients can use their insurance including Medicare to pay for services that a DPC provider orders or refers them to, such as imaging, labs, medications, and seeing specialists. Check with your health insurance plan on restrictions.
